Recuerdos - An Introduction

Our Catholic is very unique and so vast and so many things that we can learn, appreciate and practice.

For many years, I have kept tons of reading and online materials that is anything related to the Catholic faith whether its the lives of the saints, a devotional prayer book, Church history among others. These materials continued to fascinate me up to this day and gives me a renewed spirit to keep on living the faith.

So now, having this in mind, how come this blog came about?

There were so many ideas that came about on forming this blog - first as an all hagiography type blog, then did some trials on having one for a good and well known devotions, tidbits on church history, stories of venerated images and apparitions. The concept of a second blog began sometime in 2018 during the visit of the bone relic of St. Augustine of Hippo in St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Parañaque City where the cause of sainthood of four holy friars of the Order of Discalced Augustinians (OAD) are also being promoted. During our conversation with Fr. Dennis Ruiz, OAD, Postulator of the cause and known for his work at the Chapel of the Holy Relics in Talamban, Cebu, I recalled that I wanted to help on the propagation of the cause by setting up a new blog to spread the cause since at that time, my blog “Pintakasi” was, and still is, a success for promoting our very own popular venerated images in the country. The idea once again came to mind during the relic visits of St. Therese of the Child Jesus and St. Padre Pio. Also, I have kept a good number of books, leaflets, magazines, clippings, calendars and other literature about lives of the saints from different religious orders in my library for years that not only helped me get to know them, it also helped me to mold my spiritual life.

However, after some time, the plan was put to a halt when I was dealing with some personal issues from depression and incompleteness in my personal life that I endured for months. It was during this dark time that I discovered the writings of St. Teresa of Avila, the great Reformer and Doctor of the Church, and an unexpected growing love to Our Lady of Mount Carmel that helped me pull myself together and continue on with my life and have a renewed and reformed spiritual life by personally adapting the spirituality of St. Teresa and the Carmelite spirituality.

I have attempted to begin this blog in the earlier parts of 2020, yet I was busy with my career and other activities of the first quarter of the year. Yet suddenly, everything changed with the COVID-19 pandemic and I decided to re-read some hagiography books that I was able to finish reading and this rekindled the idea of having a second blog that would feature everything Catholic that I have kept in my files as a way for me to impart them to online.

This new blog are dedicated and will be placed under the patronage to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of All Saints, St. Joseph, Patron  of the Universal Church, St. Thomas Aquinas, my first known Holy Father (a homage to my Tomasian roots who opened its portals of learning), to St. Louie de Montfort, my Marian teacher, to St. Teresa of Avila, my dear patroness and teacher and to soon-to-be Blessed Carlo Acutis who worked for the spread of the devotion and love to Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament by creating a website dedicated to the renowned Eucharistic Miracles across the world.

I am hoping that this blog will be an instrument to inspire our faithful live out our Catholic faith even more and a sense of direction for those who are seeking guidance in this journey called life.
